Sludge is not wastewater with more solids in it. It is a different material: it settles, it stratifies, it generates gas, it goes septic between draws, and the gas it generates turns into sulphuric acid on any surface above the liquid line. Tanks that perform acceptably on raw sewage have been known to fail within a few years on sludge, and the failure is almost always located in the vapour space rather than below the waterline. Procurement teams that buy sludge tanks on the same specification they use for sewage tanks inherit that failure, and it surfaces long after the supplier has been paid.
Choosing a sludge enamel tank supplier is therefore less about comparing quotations and more about verifying a small number of manufacturing facts that determine whether the coating will still be intact in year fifteen.
