Farm water storage is sized against a problem that does not appear on an average day. A borehole or a mains connection that comfortably meets average demand will fail during exactly the period when the water matters most: a fortnight of peak irrigation, or a summer when the supply restriction arrives alongside the highest livestock demand. 3. Where Should the Tank Be Sited, and What Else Is Needed?

  • Gravity Feed Advantage: Siting above the point of use removes pumping cost and removes the pump as a single point of failure. Where the terrain allows it, elevation is usually worth more than a larger pump.
