Sludge is a thick, soft, moist mixture of liquid and solid components. A slurry is a thin, loose, wet mixture of liquid and solid components. Sludge and slurries are by-products of industrial, refining or wastewater treatment processes. Depending on the industry, it may contain harmless water, mud, oil, biosolids, or other debris. The filter cake is designed to remove contaminants from the sludge tank and also needs to be treated once its purpose is achieved. Sludge and slurry wastes can be stored in tanks or packaged in barrels, medium bulk containers or approved small containers.
