History of Glass Fused To Steel Tanks
The history of Glass fused to steel tanks has been more than 90 years:
² In 1920’s , Brewing Industry discovered the methodology of controlling corrosion by fusing vitreous enamel ( Glass ) to steel.
² In 1930’s , the glass fused to steel was used for Hot water heaters.
² In 1940’s , the glass fused to steel has been used as agricultural tanks.
² In 1970’s , the glass fused to steel tanks has been widely used for the storage of a high variety of municipal / industrial Liquids, slurries and dry bulk products in municipal and industrial areas.
Production of Glass Fused to Steel Tanks
Glass fused to steel tanks / Silos are made from Special steel plates and vitreous enamel. The steel plates are shaped, enameled, fused in 850 degree high temperature and carefully packed in the workshop and the tank / silo itself is erected in site. In this way, the glass fused to steel tank can be not only very fast constructed, but also easily remodeled, extended , and dismantled. This is a big advantage against concrete silos/tanks.
Besides of the wall panels , it is also possible to have glass fused to steel floor panels and roof panels. In this way, the complete silo/tank is made out of the same material.
Another practical advantage is the high corrosion-resistance .Glass enamel is the material with the highest resistance against corrosion. The glass fused to steel tank can be used for Waste water treatment ( WWPT) , Anaerobic digestion , Biogas plant, Process water treatment and so on.
