About Industrial Wastewater Treatment
Anaerobic wastewater treatment is an industrial wastewater treatment system using biology that without using of air or oxygen. It aimed to remove organics in slurries, wastewater and sludge. Anaerobic microorganisms convert organic pollutants into a “biogas” which contains methane and carbon dioxide. Biogas with a high concentration of methane is produced as a by-product, which may be captured and used as an energy source.
Up flow-Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor (UASB)
Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket uses an anaerobic process whilst forming a blanket of granular sludge which suspends in anaerobic digestion tank. Wastewater flows upwards through the blanket and is processed (degraded) by the anaerobic microorganisms. As a result, biogas (methane and carbon dioxide) are released. The rising bubbles mix the sludge without the assistance of any mechanical parts. Sloped walls deflect material that reaches the top of the tank downwards. The clarified effluent is extracted from the top of the tank in an area above the sloped walls.
