What is solid-liquid separation?

Mechanical solid-liquid separation is an effective method for removing contaminants and separating solid matter from liquid slurries. The solid-liquid filtration process involves a filter medium, usually a metal or synthetic mesh screen, through which suspended solids are removed from a liquid. Depending on the setup of the production line, these ranges of filters can be used for both batch and continuous separations, increasing the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.

How does solid-liquid separation work?

As the slurry passes through the machine, the mesh prevents the solids from draining with the liquid, creating two distinct materials. Mechanical force then allows for proper drainage of the remaining liquid from the suspended solids, ensuring that no product is wasted. Since the process may involve solids of different characteristics, the correct equipment is selected based on the density, weight and size of the solid material.
