There are several advantages to using glass lined tanks for industrial liquid applications. In addition to being easy to assemble, they offer greater lifetime value, lower maintenance costs, and less environmental impact than other liquid storage structures.
Originally a proprietary process for fusing glass into steel for large, single-piece, glass-lined brewery cans, later, glass-lined water heaters, glass fusing into steel were first used in canisters in the 1940s as feed storage silos. Although many of the tanks are still used for agricultural purposes, since the 1970s they have been primarily used for water, wastewater and other liquid storage purposes.
After firing at 820°C-930°C high temperature, the molten glass reacts with the steel plate surface to form an inert and inorganic bond, which combines the strength and flexibility of steel and outstanding corrosion resistance of glass, so Glass-Fused-to-Steel tanks can provide many advantages over standard epoxy or welded painted storage tanks.
